Old Business:
Kellie reported that the LEEF conference scheduled for March 14, 2026, is currently in the process of collecting presentation abstracts and is on track.
The Wakulla Springs seminar held at the Wakulla Environmental Institute on September 14 was well-attended and had informative presentations by Dr. Chris Werner and Chad Hanson. The public engaged with follow up questions.
Cal reported that the Friends of Wakulla Springs State Park were continuing their series of presentations at the Lodge. The geology and history of the spring and surrounding area are some of the topics presented at these ice cream social evening events.
There was no further information to report on the Conservation Florida Event. We are waiting for updates.
Website update: After discussion Emily moved that we use WIX for the WSWCD website. The costs will be between $400-$500 for three years. Kellie seconded the motion which passed unanimously.
The Microsoft invoice is paid monthly.
New Business:
Upcoming required annual reports for the Florida Department of Financial Services and the Florida Department of Commerce were discussed and will be reported.
Supervisor Items:
Kellie reported that Hope Childree, at the Wakulla Environmental Institute, would like to promote the use of native trees in the county and is looking to have local events with regional and local experts. This falls in line with our goals and we can assist by networking and possibly sponsorship.
Cal gave the Springs Update. The water continues to flow at a high rate and is still over the five-foot level on the stage gage. The green tint decreases visibility as the depth increases. Visibility has been ranging around 50’ for the last several weeks. Well sampling will hopefully show DNA for Florida A and M study.
The meeting was adjourned at 7 pm. Moved by Cal and seconded by Emily.
